About ABA

Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) is an evidence-based therapy for children and youth diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD). ABA focuses on teaching functional and social skills such as: communication, social relationship and play skills, and adaptive life skills in applied settings that are imperative to success in daily life. ABA involves ongoing assessment and continuous data collection to review the effectiveness of interventions used and progress in skills being taught.

TODAY’S WORLD

ABA has gotten a reputation for the old, “traditional” methods of behavior modification. However, ABA is SO much more beyond the negative, outdated practices of the past. ABA of today is child-centered, play and engagement based, rooted in neuro-affirming practices and strategies, and teaching of acceptance, growth, and commitment to making the world an easier place for neurodivergent individuals. As practitioners, we value and believe in the practice of data collection and analysis for determining if our interventions are effective to support an individual, but we do not support any practice that is based on compliance or shame.
